Sunday 13th June saw an impressive turn out from the wreckers at this years Pegasus 17.5km and Rochambelle 8km races with debuts from Mark 'I can't take my drink' Dalkins, Amanda 'Get that camera away from me' Dalkins, Paul 'Pop Quiz' Williams, Marg 'Floosie' Dale and Tony 'Tai Chi' Nicholls. Those returning to Caen to run again were Paul 'more than a little gay in that t-shirt' Ward, Ken 'Ali G' Richards, Kathy 'Tough Old Bird' Ling, Lyndon 'I'm not %^&*ing ginger' Dudding, Paaaaaat 'Pi$$head' Adams and of course Ian 'Hello Sailor!' Two other important races took place that evening - the Waterfront 100m Sprint Challenge (1st - Lyndon, 2nd - Tony, DNF - Dalks) and the High Stakes Fastest Pint (1st - Lyndon (again), 2nd (last DNF?) Dalks).
All in all, a cracking trip. with the majority of the troupe electing to stay in Caen for a few extra days of sun, slush puppies and soirées in 'Le Chic' (smallest nightclub in the world) - or so the b@$tards had me believe!!!
Back Row: Tony, Whizzo, Paul Williams, Ian, Lyndon, Mark
Front Row: Kath, Pat, Critter, Marg (mmm...), Amanda, Ken

The after-race presentation: Wrekin's first man and lady - Mark and Amanda Dalkins

The evening started off in a very refined manner...
...until Tony and Whizzo tried to take advantage of a pi$$ed Dalks...

... whilst The General tried to find some action down at the docks doing favours for sailors.

Wheaton Aston 5.9 mile 27.12.04
Snow and frost nearly caused the cancellation of the Wheaton Aston 10k, but the organisers decided to let the event go ahead but with the loop at the start cut out of the race. This meant that those people who didn't listen to the instructions at the start, jumped for joy at the finish thinking they had p.b.'s, when in fact the distance was reduced to 5.9 miles. The weather obviously didn’t put off Dalks who streaked round in less than 30mins for the overall winner’s position.

Telford 10k 19.12.04
The cold frosty December day didn’t put off the record 415 finishers in the Telford 10K. The two lap course around Telford Town Park attracted a field from far and wide- got to be worth a smile from race organiser Dave Mansbridge. Five Road Runners did the business.
105th 39.54 Tony Nicholls
200th 45.29 Jonathan Wysome
315th 52.12 Paul Sayer
346th 55.00 Pat Adams L45
373rd 58.18 Sarah Hodgson L35
Sneyd Christmas Pudding Run 10 mile
Two Road Runners took the annual opportunity for a scenic 10 mile stroll around the delights of Bloxwich in the West Midlands. Judging by the times there were not too many distractions on the way… good performances by Pat and Paul.
50th 01:02:54 Paul Williams M50
493rd 01:33:57 Pat Adams F45
Wolverhampton Turkey Trot 5mile 5.12.04
Personal bests all round as three Wrekin Roadrunners jogged the streets of Wolverhampton to earn mysterious turkey products. Once upon a time they gave real Turkeys in this race, but now it’s the odd Turkey running.. with “products” to follow. Suspicions of a short course last year (and wayward mile markers this year) were turned aside in favour of minor pre-Christmas celebrations. We like this race!
